Derick from House Tipster demonstrates the easiest way to install hardware on kitchen cabinets and drawers with an Amerock Hardware Alignment Tool kit. This kit only costs about $7, but it's an invaluable tool for installing cabinet hardware.
"This is going to make your life really easy," says Derick. "I highly recommend it."
Derick shows how to use a template from the kit with cabinet hardware from Amerock's St. Vincent Collection. The template makes it easy to see exactly where to attach the cabinet handles. He just marks the holes in the template with a pencil, and now he knows exactly where to drill. There's no guesswork if you use the hardware alignment tool.
The kit even comes with its own drill bit, so you don't even have to figure out which size bit to use for the screw holes.
"I know this is going to be correct," says Derick.
He lays out the easy steps:
Step 1: Choose which template holes you want to use, and use the same holes for each cabinet. Be consistent.
Step 2: Mark the spots with a pencil.
Step 3: Drill the holes with the provided bit.
Step 4: Install the hardware with the provided screws.
Step 5: Flip the template over, and repeat steps 1-4 on the opposite-facing cabinet. Make sure to mark the same hole that you marked for the first cabinet.
Step 6: Using a tape measure, mark the halfway point on the top drawer with a pencil.
Step 7: Use another template from the kit to mark where you want to drill the holes for the top drawer handle.
Step 8: Drill the holes.
Step 9: Install the hardware with the provided screws.
Enjoy your new perfectly-aligned cabinet hardware!
