In most kitchens where dark cabinets are used, the space can tend to feel small and stuffy. This kitchen has dark espresso-colored cabinets, and yet it feels open and light. The main factors for achieving openness with dark cabinets are based on the countertops and floors that are used. The designer achieved this by using the Fantasy Brown Quartzite countertops and lighter tone floors. The quartzite has dark and light tones that balance out the darkness of the cabinets. The backsplash has all of the combined colors, and works as a bridge between the cabinets and countertops. The silver hardware and stainless steel appliances break up the dark tone in the cabinets. Because of the mix of browns and grays, this kitchen has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
