While at the 2018 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Orlando, Florida, we’re talking with representatives from the trendiest brands showcasing the most valuable products and technologies you need in your home.
Top Knobs is one such company.
Since 1994, Top Knobs has developed over 30 knob and pull-related product collections in a multitude of finishes. Since we love their product line, we asked our friend, interior designer Christopher Grubb to speak with Top Knob’s National Sales Manager, Matt Vecchiolla, and Lead Designer Christine Zimmer.
Here’s what we learned about Top Knobs.
Before the interview even began, Christopher talked at-length about the fantastic size and finish variation available through Top Knobs. So, it was no surprise when Matt opened up the conversation by mentioning that most of their products are made in multiple sizes to accommodate cabinets of every shape and size. For example, the Bar Pull collection ranges from 3” to 30”+ in length from center to center.
The vast majority of the knobs and pulls Top Knobs manufactures are made of solid metals, meaning they’re more durable than the typical hollow knob. The only instances when Top Knobs uses a hollow design is if the knob or pull itself has an intricate design. In these cases, Top Knobs uses a zinc alloy to ensure the product can handle consistent use.
It’s this attention to detail and focus on quality that sets Top Knob apart from the competition.
Shape and size are just one aspect of a pull/knob; finish is another decision to factor in when you’re choosing cabinet knobs and pulls.
According to Matt, “Gold is the ‘in’ finish right now.” He explained, “We’ve added quite a bit of gold to our line.” Their current bestseller? A new hue aptly named Honey Bronze is all the rage. “It’s more matte than shiny...it’s ‘on point’ with the trend right now.”
We agree! It’s a beautiful color that absolutely makes a statement.
Another trend in knobs and pulls is the addition of a backplate. According to Matt, “We’ve added backplate combinations for our knobs so you can carry the look all the way through.” It’s definitely a style worth considering, and Christopher Grubb agreed, “It’s like jewelry on the drawer!”
You may not have given much thought to the knobs and pulls on your kitchen and bathroom cabinets, but these tiny pieces of metal can easily change the entire vibe of the room. Consider the size, shape, and finish to ensure your hardware fits your functional and aesthetic needs.
