In this House Tipster video, renowned designer Christopher Grubb takes the open home design concept to the extreme with captivating results in this contemporary California remodel.

Grubb, the founder and president of Arch-Interiors Design Group in Beverly Hills, welcomed House Tipster behind the scenes recently to see a transformation that stands out as super clean, modern, and the epitome of open. Before this, the home on Mulholland Drive in Beverly Hills had more of a comfy, casual vibe.

The homeowner, who is also a friend after working with Grubb to twice remodel his 22-year residence, demonstrated how Grubb succeeded in creating the wow factor.

After consulting with an engineer to ensure a sound structure, Grubb took the side of the house and installed windows that open to the point where nothing obstructs the view. This architectural feat blurs the distinction between the home’s interior and park-like grounds, and the homeowner couldn’t be happier.

Although the inspiration for this makeover was the really open floor plan and modern elements of style, balance in the design came from wood and stone, along with furniture that’s big on comfort. Grubb travels the world to get new ideas for his designs, and feels that success stories like this make it all worthwhile.
